BRIAN BEDNAR IS A RECIPIENT OF
THE JAMES A. “BUD” CODY COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD
CONYERS, GA—Whether it was in conjunction with his professional career or as a volunteer, Brian Bednar has been the poster child for doing good in Scottsdale, Arizona. The culmination of these efforts over a lifetime is why Bednar has been chosen as one of the 2025 recipients of the James A. “Bud” Cody Community Impact Award (The Cody). On behalf of the award committee, Derek Marchman referred to Brian’s inspirational efforts in the Scottsdale community and for organizations nationwide, offering, “Brian epitomizes the mission of the Cody, demonstrating that anyone can do one more act of goodwill in their community and beyond.”
While working as the Strategic Account Manager for Salt River Project, Bednar found time to serve as a company representative. Whether he was influencing others on an individual basis through Big Brothers and Sisters, motivating college students on the chapter level for Kappa Sigma Fraternity (receiving their Alumni Advisor of the Year from more than 300 advisors), as a member and President of the board for Scottsdale Leadership Class program, and serving Chair of numerous committees including his current work on the Charitable Giving Committee. Since joining the Yellow Jacket Committee of the Fiesta Bowl in 1996, he has been involved in nearly every facet of the organization and has served as chair for numerous events.

Brian Bednar is being interviewed during an event in Scottsdale.
Bednar continues to influence by taking on leadership roles, whether it is helping create a new pilot program at SRP called “Sports Buddies” for Big Brothers and Sisters, serving as a Scottsdale Leadership Class 20 Alumnus in various roles, including President of the board, and currently serving as a member of the Advisory Council. Bednar’s significant contributions, demonstrated through his long-term commitment to mentoring others, have been recognized with the 2017 Frank Snell Lifetime Achievement Award. However, the presentation for Brian Bednar 2024 Hodges Award Lifetime Achievement offers an excellent overview of the impact of his community leadership.
For more information on each winner, can be found at The Cody Award along with the previous recipients.
